Find Out More
It is getting close to that time of year when you will be bidding farewell to your 6th class pupils. Are you starting to notice some getting worried about this move? Overwhelm can enter their minds with a host of changes: friendships, a new routine, more classes, more teachers, a timetable, greater levels of organisation, If these are issues your pupils would like support then look no further than the HIP Psychology ‘Taking The Next Step Workshop.’
You will help you support your pupils so they leave your school viewing their next step on their educational jpurney through the lens of excitement as opposed to the lens of worry.
We have 6 dates available for schools to participate in our megaton extravaganza event
The Transitions Workshop Will Focus On The Following Four Areas
Building Friendships
We help your pupils understand the move to secondary school opens up the opportunity to meet 'new best friends for life.'
We also explore how to build new friendships in their new surroundings
Mapping The Week
The pupils will work through a standard post-primary timetable. This will allow the children the opportunity to practice reading ‘the map of their week’.
Work The Clock
We will help your pupils create a ‘big school’ routine, starting from bed time to first bell and everything in between. This will ensure they start each day in a state of calm and control ready to learn.
What If….? Then I:
We will discuss new scenarios that can occur in a post-primary school setting and suitable ways to respond.
Helping pupils 'mentally prepare' for new scenarios leads to greater levels of reassurance.
How we teach

The workshop focuses on developing the following core skills:
- Friendship building
