A workshop to support students in taking the step to KS4 in their stride

Level Up supports students through the transition into Key Stage 4 by helping them manage the increased academic pressure, independence and expectations that come with GCSE study. The workshop focuses on developing stronger study habits, greater organisation, improved confidence and a more consistent approach to learning — helping students feel more prepared, settled and in control of the challenges of KS4.

The workshop also features an AI & Retrieval Practice strand, helping students understand how Microsoft Copilot can be used responsibly to strengthen revision, independent learning and academic attainment.

This workshop is usually 70mins long.

Themes of The Workshop

Swim Your Own Lane

“Swim Your Own Lane” helps students focus on their personal goals and growth. It teaches the importance of setting individual goals, staying positive, and avoiding comparisons with others.

Consistency v Cramming

“Consistency vs. Cramming” highlights the benefits of regular study habits over last-minute cramming. It teaches pupils how consistent, daily study sessions lead to better understanding and retention of material. This part of the workshop will provide practical tips on how to create and stick to a study schedule, helping students reduce stress and improve their academic performance.

Maximising Productivity at home

“Maximising Productivity at Home” is designed to help students make the most of their time and resources while working or studying at home. Pupils will learn practical strategies for setting up a productive workspace, managing distractions, and staying focused on tasks. The workshop covers techniques for effective time management, prioritisation, and goal-setting to optimise productivity from the comfort of home.

Using AI for Retrieval & Revision

The workshop also features an AI for Learning strand, helping students understand how Microsoft Copilot can be used responsibly to strengthen revision, retrieval practice and independent learning. A key focus throughout is changing the perception of AI — when used correctly, it can become a powerful learning support tool rather than simply a shortcut. Students are reminded that Copilot will not be in the exam hall with them, so it must be used in a mature and productive way to genuinely improve understanding.

Students learn how to use Copilot to create personalised quizzes and retrieval tasks from their own class notes and revision material — turning revision into a more active, engaging and effective process. A core message throughout is simple: Copilot asks the questions. You do the thinking.

Grounded in evidence-based learning, the session reinforces that effective revision is not about re-reading notes, but about testing understanding, identifying gaps and building long-term memory and confidence over time. The overall aim is to help students use AI productively to improve learning, revision habits and academic attainment.
