It’s that time for you to guide your Primary 7s onto the next stage of their educational journey. Worries can creep in with thoughts of so many changes: ‘What if I don’t make new friends?’ Add in the idea of new subjects, teachers, a bigger school, and new routines, it’s understandable why anxiety might arise.

At HIP, we’ve developed our ‘Taking The Next Step‘ workshop to alleviate these worries within P7 pupils. In fact, we strive for the opposite outcome – by the end of the workshop, they’ll leave with a sense of excitement about the move to ‘big school.’

Our engaging and interactive 75-minute workshop will equip students with practical strategies to navigate the transition with confidence.

Additionally We’ll address concerns and anxieties head-on, fostering a positive mindset as students embark on this new chapter

Don’t let worries overshadow this exciting milestone in your students’ lives. Partner with HIP Psychology and ensure your pupils leave your capable hands excited about the next step in their educational journey.

The Transitions Workshop Will Focus On The Following Four Areas

Adaptive Response
Building Friendships

We help your pupils understand the move to secondary school opens up the opportunity to meet 'new best friends for life.'

We also explore how to build new friendships in their new surroundings

Timetable Understanding
Mapping The Week

The pupils will work through a standard post-primary timetable. This will allow the children the opportunity to practice reading ‘the map of their week’.

Confidence 2
Work The Clock

We will help your pupils create a ‘big school’ routine, starting from bed time to first bell and everything in between. This will ensure they start each day in a state of calm and control ready to learn.

Study Methods
What If….? Then I:

We will discuss new scenarios that can occur in a post-primary school setting and suitable ways to respond.

Helping pupils 'mentally prepare' for new scenarios leads to greater levels of reassurance.
