KS5: Leading by Example
Improving your confidence
We all have the potential to be a confident and collaborative leader in the classroom, on the sports field, and in the wider world. In this workshop students will work together to define leadership, to think about how leadership works in different environments, and then to apply their ideas to their school and social context. Students will learn about the qualities and habits of effective leaders.
A dynamic workshop designed for your school’s student leadership team, prefects, and student voice/council—explore what it means to lead with confidence and collaboration in the classroom, on the field, and in your wider community.

Themes of The Workshop
Communication
Communication is more than just speaking – it’s also about listening, organising ideas, and being able to facilitate conversations.
In small groups students will work on projects that emphasise the different types of communication necessary to work in a team, and how those impact our work and our teammates.
Leadership
Students will learn about the main types of leaders, including those that are decision makers and those that are facilitators.
We’ll explore the key qualities of leaders, such as the ability to listen effectively, to delegate responsibility, and to support and encourage others.
Collaborative mindset
Effective Leaders support and are supported by effective teams.
We will discuss the different situations that require effective teamwork, learn about the attributes of effective teams, and use use our understanding of group dynamics to ensure we’re creating a collaborative environment where everyone feels included and valued.
