Hip N Healthy: Children’s Mental Health Week

February

This workshop will allow children to explore and engage with the world around them, as well as form positive relationships.

Themes of The Workshop

Anger

Children will identify what makes them angry and explore how this emotion is both helpful and unhelpful. We will then help them understand how to self-regulate when they experience unhelpful anger.

Joy

Pupils will become aware of how they can ‘find the joy’ and ‘spread the joy.’ We will also explore when joy turns into over-excitement and how this can be unhelpful, potentially disrupting the classroom. Furthermore, we will help pupils self-regulate when experiencing over-excitement.

Sadness

We delve into the emotion of sadness, recognising it as something that affects us all. We emphasise the importance of speaking out when feeling ‘big sadness.’ Additionally, we introduce two strategies, ‘music’ and ‘movement,’ to have fun in the classroom and help ‘change a mood’ when experiencing ‘small sadness.

Pupil Tool Kit

We will teach four evidence-based practical strategies that pupils can use to manage and overcome unhelpful anxiety. Twinkl has created follow-up activities designed to reinforce the strategies introduced during the workshop.
