About HIP Psychology
Who is HIP Psychology?
HIP Psychology helps schools and communities thrive through high-quality, evidence-based workshops. Our age-specific, interactive programmes strengthen emotional wellbeing, develop social skills, promote positive behaviour and support educational attainment, giving young people practical strategies they can use in everyday life.
Where does HIP Psychology work?
We work with schools across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Our office is based in Belfast, but our face-to-face and live online delivery allows us to support schools across both regions.
Who delivers the workshops?
Our team brings together experience in psychology, education, pastoral care, communication and performing arts. That mix helps us make sessions practical, energetic and genuinely engaging for different age groups. You can find out more on our Meet the Team page.
Can HIP Psychology support a school across the full year?
Yes. Schools can work with HIP Psychology throughout the academic year through age-specific workshops and staff development. We can tailor a programme around the school's priorities, key stages and needs.
Workshops & Delivery
Who are HIP Psychology workshops for?
We support primary pupils, post-primary pupils and school staff. Each programme is designed for the age and stage of the group rather than using the same content for everyone.
What topics do your workshops cover?
Our programmes sit across wellbeing, social skills, behaviour, learning and attainment. Depending on the age group, topics include friendships, managing emotions, anxiety, resilience, anti-bullying, transitions, exam attainment, decision-making, interview skills, leadership and other challenges young people face in school and beyond.
Are workshops face-to-face or online?
Both. HIP Psychology delivers face-to-face workshops as well as interactive live online programmes. The best format depends on the workshop, age group and needs of your school, and we will recommend the most suitable option when you enquire.
How long does a workshop last?
Workshop length varies by age group and programme. For example, our current NI Primary programme includes 30–35 minute sessions for P1–P3 and longer sessions for older pupils. Post-primary sessions follow this rough timing by Key Stage:
- Key Stage 1 – 30 minutes
- Key Stage 2 – 60 minutes
- Key Stage 3 – 60 minutes
- Key Stage 4 – 70 minutes
- Key Stage 5 – 80 minutes
- Staff development – varies depending on the programme
We will confirm the exact timing when your workshop is booked.
Can a workshop be tailored to our school's needs?
Yes. Our programmes are designed to be age-specific and responsive to school needs. If there is a particular issue, year group or outcome you want to focus on, tell us when you enquire and we can recommend the most appropriate workshop or discuss how the session can be adapted.
Do pupils receive worksheets or follow-up resources?
Many workshops include worksheets, activities or follow-up resources to help reinforce the learning after the session. What is included varies by programme, and we will let your school know what is required or provided before delivery.
Booking & Practical Information
How do we book a workshop?
Complete the form on our Contact Us page or email info@hippsychology.com. Include your school name and town, the year group, approximate pupil numbers, the workshop or topic you are interested in and any preferred dates.
How far in advance should we book?
Earlier is always better, particularly for popular points in the school year such as transition periods, Anti-Bullying Week, Children's Mental Health Week and exam preparation. If you need a session at shorter notice, still get in touch and we will check availability.
How much do workshops cost?
Pricing depends on the programme, delivery format, year group, pupil numbers and the number of workshops being booked. Contact us with your requirements and we will provide a clear quote for your school.
How many pupils can take part?
That depends on the workshop and delivery format. Some sessions work best with individual classes or year groups, while live online delivery can allow schools to involve larger numbers. Tell us your pupil numbers when you enquire and we will advise on the best setup.
What does the school need to provide on the day?
We will send the practical requirements before your session. These vary depending on whether the workshop is face-to-face or live online, but we will make sure your school knows exactly what room, technology, supervision or materials are needed in advance.
Staff Development & Wider Programmes
Do you offer staff development as well as pupil workshops?
Yes. HIP Psychology provides interactive staff development for schools in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, with a focus on practical strategies that support staff wellbeing, resilience, collaboration and positive school environments.
Do ROI staff sessions support Croke Park Hours?
Yes, we offer staff development sessions for schools in the Republic of Ireland designed with Croke Park Hours in mind. Contact us with your school's requirements and we can advise on the most suitable session.
